Recipients
The people who will receive all or part of your vault contents after your death.
Who can be a recipient?
Anyone: spouse, child, parent, friend, business partner, doctor, estate executor, even a minor (who will be contacted upon coming of age). The person doesn't need to be already registered on leggit. A simple email address is enough for the initial invitation.
How does it unfold?
- You create a vault, you choose the recipients, you set the release mode (independent, quorum, etc.).
- Each recipient receives an email invitation. If they are not on leggit yet, they create an account. Their X25519 public key is captured at that moment.
- Your vault contents are encrypted individually for each recipient with their own public key. No one else — not even leggit — can decrypt them.
- When the time of death comes (verified through the paths you chose), each recipient receives a notification. They sign in to leggit and can consult or download what is theirs.
Autres rôles
Au-delà des destinataires post-mortem, leggit reconnaît plusieurs profils complémentaires que vous pouvez désigner :
Trustees
Distinct from recipients: these people never receive the contents of your vaults, but they help you ensure the reliability of the service.
Estate executor
A recipient with special status: their presence is mandatory to open the vault, except when death has been confirmed. Ideal for a notary, a lawyer, or an official executor overseeing the transmission of your wishes.
Family members
The other people who actively share your family vaults during your shared life.
Memorial page
A public web page activated upon your death, where your loved ones and friends can pay tribute to you. Distinct from private transmission.
