Sharing among the living

Family vault

A vault where several members of one family (couple, siblings, parents and children) actively share data. Distinct from the post-mortem vault: transmission is immediate.

Typical use case

A couple shares the home Wi-Fi passwords, Netflix and Spotify accounts, the alarm codes, the family doctor's contact details. Each one adds, modifies, consults according to the rights they hold. No need to wait for a sad event to benefit from leggit.

Three roles in a leggit family

When you invite someone into your leggit family, you assign them one of these three roles:

  • Owner — You, the creator of the family group. Can invite, revoke, and create vaults for the family.
  • Member — Can consult, add and modify items in family vaults. Ideal for a spouse or an adult child.
  • Reader — Can only consult and download. Suitable for an elderly parent who wants to view but not modify.

Difference with the post-mortem vault

The family vault works right away, with no death condition. The post-mortem vault only opens when the time comes. You can use both in parallel: a family vault for shared everyday matters, and a post-mortem vault for transmissions strictly personal to your children.

Hybrid setup possible: a family vault may also have post-mortem recipients. Upon your death, those recipients will inherit the contents in addition to the family members who already had access.
