Crypto wallets vault

A vault dedicated to seed phrases, private keys and access credentials for Bitcoin, Ethereum and other cryptocurrency wallets. Reinforced security given the extreme value of the data.

Typical use case

You hold several crypto wallets. If you pass away without having transmitted your seed phrases, your family loses your entire crypto holdings, with no recourse possible. The leggit crypto vault keeps these seeds encrypted and only transmits them upon your death, under the strict conditions you have set (typically: estate executor + quorum of children).

Two protection modes available

When creating a wallet, you choose the security level suited to your crypto-assets. The two modes can coexist in the same vault.

Standard mode

Fast · Desktop or mobile

Your seed is stored as a regular encrypted item in a vault. Entry on PC or mobile, transmission to your recipients according to the release rules you set.

Avantages : Fast creation (5 minutes), access from any device.

Limites : Residual risk if your PC is compromised by a crypto-aware infostealer at the moment of entry or reading.

Paranoia mode

Mobile PWA only · Anti-infostealer

Your seed never exists on a PC. It is entered on your phone, split into multiple fragments via Shamir sharing, and each fragment is entrusted encrypted to a custodian (recipient or trustee). No single fragment allows the seed to be reconstituted.

Avantages : No trace of the seed on a computer. Reconstitution on your phone with audio reading in an earphone (never displayed on screen).

Pré-requis : Requires the leggit PWA installed on your phone. You must have at least 5 recipients or trustees already registered on leggit.

Three quorum levels available:

  • 3 sur 5 — 3 of 5 — balanced (recommended). Tolerates the loss of 2 custodians.
  • 5 sur 7 — 5 of 7 — moderate paranoia. Harder to reconstitute under coercion.
  • 7 sur 12 — 7 of 12 — maximum paranoia. Coercion nearly impossible.

Comment fonctionne la récupération paranoïa

To recover your seed (in case of loss), you launch a recovery session from your phone. Your custodians receive a notification and an authorization code that you communicate to them out-of-band. When M of them have validated, the seed is reconstituted and read in your earphone.

Backup papier indispensable : Whatever mode you choose, leggit strongly recommends keeping a paper copy of your seed in a physical safe. leggit is a second layer of security, not a replacement for the ultimate backup.

Specific protections

  • Double-confirmation warning when entering a seed (you type it twice)
  • Strong recommendation to enable "all present" or "with estate executor" mode for the release
  • Specific audit log for any operation on a crypto wallet (visible only to you)

Post-mortem transmission

At the moment of your death, your designated crypto heirs receive a notification. For standard mode, they decrypt normally. For paranoia mode, they trigger a recovery session with your custodians, and the seed is read on their phone (never displayed). leggit recommends they immediately migrate the funds to a new hardware wallet of which they are the sole holders.

Important: leggit NEVER has access to your seed phrases in clear. If you forget your password AND your recovery trustees are no longer available, the seeds are permanently lost. Appoint at least 2 recovery trustees.
