Post-mortem digital vault

Pass on what matters,
to those who matter.

leggit is an end-to-end encrypted digital vault. When the time comes, your messages, passwords and documents are passed on to your loved ones, exactly as you wished.

Death verification

Four paths to confirm when the time comes

You decide how many paths are required: a single one may be enough (INSEE), or several combined depending on how strict you want to be.

1

INSEE

Automatic match against the monthly death file published on data.gouv.fr.

Delay: ~30 days
2

Partner notary

Death certificate signed electronically (eIDAS via DocuSeal) by a notary from our network.

Delay: a few hours
3

leggit operator

Official death certificate transmitted to leggit, validated by two separate operators.

Delay: 24 to 72 hours
4

Trustees

Quorum of trustees you have appointed (2 of 3 by default), with declaration and supporting evidence.

Delay: 7 to 14 days
Security

Three principles that protect your data

Zero-knowledge encryption

Your data is encrypted on your device before being transmitted. leggit cannot read it — and neither can we, even with access to our servers.

Dead man's switch

A periodic "proof of life" check automatically triggers the transmission if you stop responding, after a grace period that you define.

Multi-channel validation

Death verification through INSEE, notaries, funeral operators or trustees you have appointed. Multiple paths to prevent any error.

Four uses, four lives

They use leggit to prepare tomorrow

A few examples of what our users entrust to leggit, depending on their stage of life.

Mark

38 years old · Father

My marriage contract and a message for Anne and our two children. If anything happens to me tomorrow, they won't have to search through boxes — everything is here, ready, with the words I want to leave them.

Marriage contract · Personal letters · Post-mortem wishes

Bernard

71 years old · Retired

My stock portfolio, my life insurance contracts, my broker access. My notary is my trusted third party — when the day comes, he'll have everything at hand for my family.

Stock portfolio · Life insurance · Notary as trusted third party

Leo

29 years old · Crypto investor

My Bitcoin seed and my Ethereum keys, split into Shamir shares between my parents and my best friend. If I lose my phone or something happens to me, it's recoverable. No single person can access my funds.

BIP-39 seed · Ethereum private keys · Hardware wallet access

Catherine

54 years old · Senior manager

All my estate paperwork — notarised deeds, will, asset inventory. And a dedicated vault for my executor with my final wishes. I prepared it to spare them what I experienced when my parents died.
